Aromatherapy - Learn the All Natural Way to Relieve Stress and to Enliven Your Senses

Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy - Learn the All Natural Way to Relieve Stress and to Enliven Your Senses
While this video may be titled Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy, it’s as much about self-massage as it is about treating yourself with essential oils. Valerie Ann Worwood is an excellent guide to the benefits of aromatherapy–using scents to soothe and heal–for the whole family, and the sections on how to give yourself a massage are alone worth the price of this tape.

Worwood begins with the mixing of oils. The video sleeve contains a guide to which oils work for specific desired results (for instance, lemon oil is good for the body and soul, for use as a sedative, and for increasing concentration), and she mixes a few concoctions to illustrate. She then moves on to first aid, healing cuts and burns, stimulating aching feet, and helping a young child fall asleep. Next is aromatherapy in beauty regimes. The face massage is soothing, and she claims it will help release tension, increase circulation, improve texture, and revitalize the face. Scents in baths and showers follow, and then the section on stress, tension, and self-massage. The self-massage is demonstrated slowly enough that it’s easy to follow. Who needs a masseuse? With Worwood as a guide, you can calm the aching muscles of your shoulders, neck, arm, breasts, hip, back, and bottom all by your lonesome (note: there is a bit of nudity in the demonstration). She finishes the video with environmental perfuming–scenting your living space. Warning: after viewing this video you may go overboard on purchasing the oils. But at least you and your home will be pleasingly aromatized. –Jenny Brown

Customer Review: Massage and Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy
Valerie Ann Worwood is an expert on the use of essential oils and has written many helpful books on the subject. In this hour-long instruction DVD, she offers advice on the holistic use of a wide variety of essential oils.

Through watching this program you learn to make your own massage oils and then a demonstration is given for a full-body massage while a woman is wrapped in a towel. One section - for a few seconds - shows her from the back which may or may not offend viewers. Otherwise, she is mostly demonstrating arm, shoulder, back and leg massage.

The essential oils discussed include: Lemon, Rosemary, Lavender, Orange, Neroli, Petigrain, Ylang Ylang, Thyme, Chamomile, Clary Sage, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Rose, Grapefruit, Geranium, Palma Rosa, Bergamot, Frankinsense, Ginger and Spearmint.

Which oils can you use in a bath?

What will help aching legs or sore feet at the end of the day?

How can you make a healing cream for the entire family?

What will increase overall body tone?

Valerie answers these questions and more. There is a brief face massage section (with ideas on which oils to use for various skin types) and ideas for using sea salts and essential oils in the bath is also explored. This is probably one of the best introductions to using essential oils in every area of your life.

Customer Review: the encyclopaedia of essential oils
I have the repint of this book ( published in Great Britain in 1992) and as a certified Aromatherapist and Reflexologist have found this book very helpfull. I have not seen the new one so I can’t say about it. The older one (1992)was for someone that has experience with the oils and wanted a quick guide for Family, Actions, anf Principal Constituents of the oils. This is a book for someone that is wanting to go beond the every day use of Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy
Customer Review: Elementary, good for pictures. Not as advanced as Worwood.
The research ability of this book is not set up as well as some. The information also is not as advanced or as extensive as some other authors. My preference would be Worwood over Lawless.
