Customer Review: Great ‘all-around’ book
As an aromatherapist, I have many titles in my library of reference material. This book is one of the few that is unique. It is a great book for someone just starting to delve into aromatherapy, but it goes farther than that. You will find yourself going back to this book over and over and over again as you develop and hone your skills. I have been using essential oils for almost a decade, and I picked it up just the other day to look something up. When I grabbed it this week, it hit me just how good a book this really is. I decided I had to review it here so others could benefit from reading it as well. I hope this helps someone :)
Customer Review: Good start, but some criticisms
This has a lot of interesting explanations on how the oils mix, about synergistic blends. It is a great overview of aromatherapy.

However, I find the book to be a little bit too preachy. When the author wrote this book, did she consider the audience? Every other sentence explains about the toxicity and the poisons of our every day products. It’s a bit much. One doesn’t need to convert the choir. They are already converted, at least part way. One can do without such overt preachiness.

My second criticism is that the book is designed for a beginner. As a beginner, it seems to me that the recipes should be a little more basic. While in the beginning, she discusses the 10 essential oils that everyone should have in their basic care arsenal, the other recipes often go far beyond those 10. As a beginner, I have yet to acquire all of these costly oils, and then some. It would be helpful to have recipes that didn’t contain 6-10 different oils. An example would be: these two oils is a basic recipe for this, and if you really want to go further, add these as well. (There are a number of recipes like that, but they are far and few.) Also, it would be nice to know why one essential oil was chosen over another for a certain mixture. Is it for anti-inflammatory reasons? For general antiseptic? Anti fungal? One has to do a lot of guessing. This is supposed to be a beginners book, after all.

Customer Review: Lots of Great Information for Moms and Babies!
I found this book at Whole Foods and didn’t know if it was worth the price. Went across the street to the library and checked it out. The answer is yes, it is worth the (Amazon) price! It is chock full of information pertaining to aromatherapy and oils that are safe for mom and baby both prenatal and postpartum. I was especially interested in which oils help with the baby blues and this book gives a thorough rundown of those as well as others that relieve pain, give energy, and calm you (or the baby) down. I have to take the library book back, so here I am to buy it. If you are interested in massage and/or aromatherapy, or know a pregnant mom who is, get this book! I wish I would have had it for my first pregnancy.

Customer Review: The Art of Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy: The Healing and Beautifying Properties of the Essential Oils of Flowers and Herbs
This is a great book for both the beginner and practising Aromatherapist. His health of knowledge is clearly demonstrated in the discussion on essential oils - It’s a must. Tisserand is one of the foremost authorities on Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy and has published many books. In our natural therapy college, we strongly recommend his books to all our medical aromatherapy students. It’s on our Bookshelf and we use it regularly. The lack of an in-depth index is a bit troublesome, however, after you’ve read the book you’ll have less and less trouble finding what you want.
Customer Review: Too difficult to research
This book may contain great information, but unless you’re committed to sitting down and reading it cover to cover, this won’t be your most helpful resource. This book has no index in the back, so if you want to look up a specific topic, you’ve only got chapter and section headings, and then you have to scan through pages and pages to find what you’re looking for. I’ve got 4 aromatherapy books, and I barely ever crack this one open because it’s too much work to find what I’m looking for. There are much better books out there!

Customer Review: A Delicasy For the Visual~Aroma~Authoring Artist!!
I feel that this book is a perfect treat for the ( i must say attention deficit, as I am a member). The visual pictures keep the reader interested, as well as the wonderful history of perfumery! The visual text is modern, creative, colorful, and definitely has interest for every kind of reader, not to mention those who love or are interested in Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy!! I love the use of the shapes, photography, print, texture of the pages, as well as cover, and the content. It is very informative, gives Recipes and More!~Recipes for everything from bathing, to skin brushing. If you love Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy, color, and appreciate design elements, you will love this book-It is a piece of ART.
Customer Review: A great addition to your complimentary health library
Written in a contemporary style for ease of reading, this book immediately appeals through its intimately pocketed text, colourful fonts and superb graphics. Black and white photography add to the feeling of intimacy and mood. Title pages or those containing statements, quotes and key points are coloured for impact without “shouting”. Visual analysis aside, the text is concise, accurate and well researched without being too technical. It’s almost like the author is chatting to you about the whole concept of Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy over several large cups of coffee. Each chapter discusses its subject in detail without being too “heavy”, successfully keeping the lay-reader interested. Chapter 3 examines 30 individual essential oils, has accompanying pictures of each plant/seed so the reader can make a visual connection with the origin. The descriptive text creatively flows in various shapes rather than just plain left to right over the whole page. Also discussed are the merits of various carrier oils with accompanying graphics, enabling the reader to make a reasonably informed choice when purchasing for themselves. A great coffee table/guest-room book, and also a wonderful addition to the dedicated user’s library.
