Believe the hype, this soap is pretty much amazing. 32 oz of this stuff on Dr Bronners website is 14 dollars and some change.. so this is quite a slick deal. If you already have or are thinking of purchasing this soap, try the facial pack idea. Me and the g/f have been enjoying that. I also just got a puppy and have been using it to (safely for him) mop up a few bathroom messes. One complaint would be the 60th anniversary message blocking several of the words at the bottom front of the bottle…anybody figure this out?

This is a great book. It’s neat and it features wonderful pictures. It teaches some basics about massage. It contains a lot of easy to follow recipes for creams, lotions, pomades and the like. It teaches to match base oils with skin type. It also teaches how to use the most common essential oils for aromatherapy. There is a wealth of information which, although a little synthetic, is very clear. For beginners this book is a real treasure.

I liked this book because it explained in detail, the proper use of ingredients. It gives easy to use formulas as well as giving explanations of why certain ingredients were used and substitutions of ingredients to get the results you desire. Some reviewers said the products were difficult to find, but with a simple web search, I found Glory Bees Food to be an excellent source. This book is a great start if you want to start a business. It helps you to understand the process of formulation. Thus far, this is my favorite book on the subject.

I really loved this book the only draw back is that most things you made have to go in the refrigerator, I would really like someone to come out with receipes that are marketable and preserved with things like essential oils instead of just having to put everything in the frig. #1 My kids might think it is food and try it. #2 I don’t think the next time you go to use it cold stuff on your face is not what you are after for your skin to asborb ingredients it needs to be warm not cold. #3 It is alittle confusing. I couldn’t figure out what they meant by a certain type of oil. This book is defintely not for the beginner and it is not easily readable for making receipes. #4 It would have been better had they made the book like a receipe book with the spiral binding so when you are trying to make the receipe the book is easy to keep open. I would like to see more research done on the foods on your skin verses the other products people are using. People need to see real results that have been tested and tried and then documented. Maybe a college could do this for someone??? I know that if people are not careful they could transfer bacteria to their skin if they left the product in the frig to long and keep using it. Yes I know just like food but if they aren’t aware of the dangers it could have adverse side effects.

This book would make a great gift for anyone you know who is expecting. The book itself is small and fits in my purse easily. This book covers quite a few helpful topics for during pregnancy and child care after the delivery. I liked the section for the partners, which explains why aromatherapy is beneficial and encourages them to massage you (which is always a plus). The layout of the book was confusing, because it jumped right into pregnancy care without much discussion of the essential oils to use first. It may be better to buy this book if you already know a bit about aromatherapy. I really like the chart at the end of the book telling you the oils to use in each trimester. It makes looking up a particular oil very easy. This book is a good thing to have on hand while you are pregnant. It tells just enough to give you all the information you need to safely use aromatherapy in pregnancy without repeating itself. I think I’ll take it to the hospital!

It produces steam at 5 minute intervals for approximately 30 seconds. It never really steams up. I used it and never sweated. It was very frustrating and a waste of time and especially money. Unfortunately, I did not buy this product through Amazon. I bought it directly from National Pool Wholesalers. Their return and refund policy is not customer friendly. If you send a product back, it’s at the customer’s expense. I called the company before I shipped the item back and explained the problem concerning the unit. I was told that the steam was suppose to be constant and to send it back and it would be tested. I shipped it back with a detailed letter explaining what the problem was. I waited for over a week after NPW had received the unit back, I did not hear from NPW, so I called them. I was told I would be refunded. The unit cost me $199, I paid $22 to ship it back to NPW, and NPW refunded me $139. I was charged a $60 restocking/shipping fee. So, it was $82 loss.NPW said it worked, when it clearly did not. I went back and forth with the company because it did not work. The sauna was something I really wanted, so I would not have sent it back if it worked. Their finally response was that it worked and for me to make arrangements to have it shipped back to me [more money out of my pocket].I declined. NPW clearly states in their refund/return policy that the customer is responsible for shipping the product back and if the product works there is a restocking fee. This is clearly a dilemma for the customer, it certainly was for me, knowing that if you send it back and the company says it does work you lose. Almost a 50% loss. The product did not work or was ineffective. A win/win for NPW and a significant loss for the customer. Stick with Amazon, because, they treat their customers right. One more thing about the product, it’s manufactured overseas, no surprise, and the manual is written in broken english.

Customer Review: Good recipes but lacks essential information
Overall, I consider this a good book with easy to follow recipes. However, I feel that she didn’t include all the information that she should have. She uses essential oils in many of the recipes, but she never mentions any safety data. For instance, she includes many citrus oils without mentioning that they are phototoxic. She gives a brief description of each of the ingredients that she uses throughout the book. However, although she uses a number of different emulsifiers, she doesn’t bother to explain why one may be better than another in a specific recipe, or how to substitute one emulsifier for another in a recipe. Since some of the ingredients are hard to find, this would be nice to know. In addition, one emulsifier she uses is an alpha hydroxy acid which she includes in most of her lotion and cream recipes. I choose not to use alpha hydroxy acids and would love to know how to make the recipes without that ingredient. There are not as many recipes in this book as it first appears. Many recipes are, “take the basic recipe from chapter 3 and add the following essential oils…” While I’m glad I bought this book, I do feel that it’s going to take some additional research and experimentation before I’m able to use the recipes for my own personal use.

These are the best candles ever. I love the fact that I am injesting essential oils vs bad fragrance oils. They don’t have that waxy smell that you get from most candles and they burn really clean. There are three main sections in this book. The first gives an overview of Traditional Medicine principles. The second part gives a detailed description of the most common essential oils and their effects, not like any aromatherapy book because it incorporates the Chinese Medicine principles as heating, warming, cooling, yin and yang…There is an indication on how to use the oils on some major Chinese acupuncture points.The third part deals with some ailments related to the mind ill health It is a very different book indeed, and as an Aromatherapist working with cases of stress and anxiety , I am very glad to have added it to my bookshelf. Customer Review: Two DVDs for the value of one
This two DVD set covers more than just massage, in case you happen to believe in aromatherapy, acupressure and reflexology. On the plus side, all the massage techniques are performed long enough for those new to massage to grasp them. Head, feet, and facial are covered, along with body. Camera work is adequate if not inspired, and the video quality is good. While one gets the “what could be expected in an institutional setting” feeling when watching, this is a video for the whole family, something one can’t say for some other massage videos. On the minus side, some things are repeated. One sees essentially the same complete back massage three times, in different places on the DVDs. There is a menu mixup between arm massage and chest and neck massage. Whoever laid out the DVDs was not a friend of logic. As for the massage itself, it somehow doesn’t look that enjoyable. The draping, for the most part, would be acceptable to a nun, and it causes definite breaks in the massage. The techniques look very rule-bound, which I suppose goes along with the instructional nature, but I watched a masseuse miss the same part of the back over and over, just to follow a pattern. All in all, you could learn to massage someone from this DVD set. Just don’t pay too much.

This candle smells great - not too floral, but fresh and not overpowering. It’s burns for quite a long time too in a cute “jelly jar” type glass. I bought this about a week ago and it works well; we keep it in our living room. The water spins around and somehow purifies the air. The humidifier also works well. My complaints are that it’s noisy and the scent is very expensive ($30 plus for 4 small vials) and only comes in a few scents. Somewhere I read you can put in pure essence oils but it will stain the reservoir. After putting the purifier in another room to see how well it works there, I have noticed the air in the living room is dryer and there is a slight smell of our large dog. If it passes the “basement room test” I’m going to purchase another one.

Substituting a concrete image or object for an abstract one began with our cave-dwelling ancestors, and it is with them that scholar Tim Wallace-Murphy begins.

Many ancient cultures saw art and writing as a form of magic, believing that the depiction of a possibility would make it a reality, such as when writing a spell on papyrus was believed to ensure its fulfillment, or drawing an animal-headed human figure was believed to give a shaman the characteristics of that animal. Later, he delves into more familiar symbols of faith, with particular emphasis on those linked to the Templars and Masonic rites.

Its flaws aside, Keys to the Code is a unique collection of insights and its simple, accessible presentation grants it a sense of comfortable authority amidst the hype that usually circulates around the mysteries of symbolism.

This is a good reference book for the physical aspects of aromatherapy. However all positives stop there. She does not explain the oils and their function or contradictions. There is nothing about the effects of the oils on emotions or moods. The recipes include too many oils as I was taught the more simple the recipe the more effective, I.E no more than three E.O’s, this book has recipes that have over 6 different oils, and she fails to explain why the oils in the recipe work. Not one mention of Rosewood or Ylang ylang. I disagree with the selection of oils. Over all I was disappointed with this book. It’s a good book for a home remedy kit. Not a good book for an Aromatherapist.

This book is not for the folks who want to just make Blends. Its for people who want to know the science behind the oils. What groups each oil belongs in. Which is something everyone must know when blending. You need to know what oils to use if you do not have a certain oil on hand. Plus Kurt has the science down. Reading this book all the way thru will teach you how to use the oils. So many books out there on blends, but what are you blending? Kurts book called Advance Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy is wonderful to. I love both books and have learn so MUCH more then I ever could from other books. I have learned how to deal with viruses , in depth. If you are serious about this subject, both of Kurts books are a MUST HAVE.

Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy With Valerie Ann Worwood
While this video may be titled Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy, it’s as much about self-massage as it is about treating yourself with essential oils. Valerie Ann Worwood is an excellent guide to the benefits of aromatherapy–using scents to soothe and heal–for the whole family, and the sections on how to give yourself a massage are alone worth the price of this tape.

Worwood begins with the mixing of oils. The video sleeve contains a guide to which oils work for specific desired results (for instance, lemon oil is good for the body and soul, for use as a sedative, and for increasing concentration), and she mixes a few concoctions to illustrate. She then moves on to first aid, healing cuts and burns, stimulating aching feet, and helping a young child fall asleep. Next is aromatherapy in beauty regimes. The face massage is soothing, and she claims it will help release tension, increase circulation, improve texture, and revitalize the face. Scents in baths and showers follow, and then the section on stress, tension, and self-massage. The self-massage is demonstrated slowly enough that it’s easy to follow. Who needs a masseuse? With Worwood as a guide, you can calm the aching muscles of your shoulders, neck, arm, breasts, hip, back, and bottom all by your lonesome (note: there is a bit of nudity in the demonstration). She finishes the video with environmental perfuming–scenting your living space. Warning: after viewing this video you may go overboard on purchasing the oils. But at least you and your home will be pleasingly aromatized. –Jenny Brown

Customer Review: A great DVD to share with others.
Having purchased this DVD for my own enlightenment, I found it was something worth sharing with my sisters and friends, all of whom, like myself, have difficulty finding time for relaxation. So, this DVD will be their Christmas gift along with my own massage oil blends - both for face and body, and I am anxious to know what they think. In my opinion, this DVD conveys a sense of caring - through teaching one to take time for self in addition to the wonderful benefits of using essential oils in your home and everyday life. I am not an aromatherapist, nor a massage therapist, however I have been using essential oils to make my own bath and beauty products for some years and recently have begun doing face and self massage. This DVD was very helpful with the techniques of self massage. I do recommend that anyone interested is using essential oils first educate themselves as to which oils are right for them.

Ms. Worwood’s DVD ranks at the top of my list of beneficial information on aromatherapy and massage therapy (which go hand in hand) and should be enjoyed by anyone with interest in these topics.

Scott’s books are and excellent start up to those testing the waters, Even though te book needs some updating since he last wrote it before he died. The recipe’s are great but the oil recipe’s are only usefull if your making a dram size bottle. Eventually you’ll beable to improve his recipes and change things when you get a better idea about plants and their uses in magic and healing. Keep in mind His book does not contain traditional recipes on oils,incence,powdersetc you’ll find in occult shops the magical formulary is a good book for that(again trial and error)

Customer Review: Definitely a good book to start with…
I enjoy this book and think it is worth having in your library if you are interested in truly natural perfumery. My one critcism is that many of the recipes include sandalwood (Santalum album), an oil that I have moral issues with using. It is a threatened species and I don’t necessarily think it is responsible to encourage those beginning in their exploration to purchase and use it heavily. It’s incredibly unfortunate because sandalwood is one of my favorite scents in the whole world, but I can’t justify destroying a species to make perfume. Apparently the cultivated Austalian species, Santalum spicatum, is considered a good alternative. I wish she had at least mentioned the controversy in her book. I suggest anyone interested in this book research the status of Santalum album, as well as alternatives for its use in perfumery prior to purchasing oils for the recipes. Hopefully the aromatherapy and natural perfumery community will begin to raise its consciousness regarding the overharvesting of plants for aesthetic and medicinal uses. All in all, I recommend this book with the exception explained above. I took a half day class with Mindy Green last year and thought she was a wonderful teacher. She has a lot to offer.

As an aromatherapy educator and soapmaker, I love natural health and beauty products. Since I began using essential oils to create my own scent blends several years ago, I’ve never looked back, and I’ve never missed those overpriced, synthetic, store-bought perfumes that always ended up giving me a headache. This enjoyable little book is a great place to begin to learn how to blend your own original perfume. In less than 100 pages, the author introduces 40 essential oils, 30 natural fragrance recipes, and two easy and instructive blending lessons. The book also features several handy charts; I find myself referring to the table on note type and odor intensity very often when choosing which oils will combine nicely together. The book is put together in a very straightforward, user-friendly way. Rather than delving deeply into the science of aromatherapy (for that information, I highly recommend The Aromatherapy‘>Aromatherapy Companion, by Victoria Edwards, or any book by Valerie Ann Worwood), the author simply focuses on using all-natural, plant-derived essential oils to create scent blends. You can use these blends to make fragrant bath oils, body splashes, room freshening spritzes, linen and lingerie sprays, or, best of all, your own signature perfume. Her recipes are great places to start - my favorites are Angel’s Whisper and Chocolate Eclipse - but soon you’ll become addicted to developing your own original blends. P.S. The poetic quotations on perfume and scent that are scattered throughout the text are almost worth the price of the book itself!
